We heart San Diego!

On Saturday we went to The Broken Yolk for breakfast in San Diego...eggs benedict (again...). Delish! I went to conference (again...) then we took a taxi boat from Coronado to Seaside Village to walk around a bit. We decided to have lunch at this great little restaurant on the water. It was perfect...beer, mimosas, perfect weather, great pizza (again...) then guess who decided to make a scene?!?....me? no. It was Chris. We had to leave our drinks behind and walk around. Of course he was perfect once we left the restaurant! He just wasn't having this whole sit in once place for too long thing. So we walked around for a bit more checking out the local artists, people watching (one of my favs), eating fresh baked cookies and enjoying the beautiful, clean air! We took the taxi boat back to the hotel to play and nap then headed out to this great restaurant called Peohe's! Chris was much better at this restaurant so we enjoyed some local grown brew and a Pu-Pu platter. I swear we giggled ordering this appetizer. Of note, the reason we ate so many appetizers this trip is because we would eat 'dinner' before dinner was even being served due to the time change and having a little one that goes to bed so early. Still great food!
Sunday we said goodbye to San Diego and flew back to Houston! Christopher was a bit fussier on this flight but still not too bad. We had a wonderful time traveling together on our first family vacation but nothing will ever top our home sweet home! = )

San Diego Zoo Day!

Friday morning we woke up and had an incredible breakfast (eggs benedict with salmon!). I went to conference for a few hours (that's the whole purpose of this trip, right?!). Before heading to the zoo we went to the Ferry Landing on Coronado and ate pizza waterside. It sure does take 2-3x longer to do things when there is a kiddo involved (car seat, stroller, diaper changes, etc.) but well worth it. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Charlie and Christopher do boy things and talk about boats. ; ) After lunch we went to the San Diego Zoo! It was a really cool zoo. We took a bus tour around the zoo initially then strolled around for an additional 2 hours or so. The animals were pretty interactive...must have been the fantabulous weather!

"The Del"

We fell in love with Hotel Del Coronado! We spent our first afternoon/evening at The Del walking along the beach. We found a table on the patio, ate appetizers and drank some adult beverages while watching the sun set. This was somewhat challenging with Christopher since it was 8pm to him when the sun set and he usually goes to bed around 6:30pm. We are very glad we stuck this out though because it was so pretty! A definite 'must-see' if you are ever in San Diego!

Traveling to San Diego!

Where do I begin?.....
San Diego with the family was freaking awesome! We had the most amazing time and Christopher was a rockstar! Since I have nearly 300 pictures I will do my best to sum it up.
Below is Charlie packing...this was so much different than when we went to California last time...toys in a suitcase?!?
Thursday we flew from Houston to San Diego. Christopher was pretty good this flight and slept about an hour of it. We were amazed that our child consumed 3 bottles in a 3 hour flight. Note to self- pack 4x what you think you need when flying....
When we arrived in San Diego, we picked up our rental car. I booked a mid sized SUV however we were 'chosen' to have a mini-V! I was super pumped. However, after having it for the weekend I can say I much rather prefer my Acura. My dreams of one day being a soccer mom in a mini-V was squashed! Chuck absolutely hated the mini-V and reminded me of this everytime we got in the car!
Christopher was so worn out from the flight, he passed out on the bed! It was adorable. Later on, the hotel brought us a pack and play which was super awesome to not have to take that with us!
We set up a play area in the hotel for Christopher. He enjoyed it very much. Doug- the cookie jar was one of the lucky toys to travel with us. ; )
After Christopher rested up we went to Hotel Del Coronado to walk along the beach and watch the sun set! GORGEOUS! More pictures to follow...

"Please update your blog" - Charlie

Charlie was in need of an update ; )...so I will blog about our adventures yesterday.

We started the day off pulling most of our books off the shelf. After this episode we learned very quickly that the larger the book the lower down on the bookcase it should be. = )
We hugged and played.

We then drove down to Columbia Lakes for the Slade Edling Memorial Golf Tournament. We sure do miss Slade! It was great to catch up with everyone and Charlie had a wonderful time playing golf. The girls + Chris + random dog took the cart out for a ride. We had to sneak it out since we had 5 humans and 1 animal in a one bench golf cart...very fun!
Since the weather was gorgeous we brought a blanket and lots of toys to sit by the 10th hole and wave at all the golfers. Christopher and his girlfriend, Khloe, had a great time. Khloe really likes to hug right now and strangled Christopher a few times...she meant well! = )
We then moved the party inside once it started getting cold. Take note of one of Christopher's favorite toys. A water bottle filled with 16 different types of beans. He enjoys it very much!
Grandma Henry joined in on the fun too!

Once the tournament was over and Charlie's team won (ha, just kidding) we drove back to Pearland and all passed out! All in all, a great Saturday indeed!

We are SUPER excited about our next adventure. We leave for the San Diego zoo on Thursday!
